Andrew Carpenean is a professional photographer based in Wyoming specializing in photojournalism. During his career he has been chief photographer with three publications including two daily newspapers and a chain of weeklies, working in Colorado, Oregon and Oklahoma. At 17 he became an assistant to a Denver Post staff photographer later studying commercial photography at the Art Institute of Colorado. His first job in photography was freelancing for United Press International.
Carpenean has won more than 40 awards for his images in either state, regional or national competitions including 2006 Oklahoma Press Association Photo of the Year. Carpenean provides outstanding coverage of breaking and general news stories, editorial, features, nature and sports photography with strong attributes in composition and lighting. Assignments range from a relief efforts mission trip for victims of Hurricane Katrina and Rita in Houma, La. to division I football to numerous community and cultural based events.
